General Election Announcement

I’m pleased and proud to announce that in a historic moment, none other than our very own deputy leader Stef Johnstone will be our first candidate to run in a UK general election.

Stef will stand in the Kilmarnock and Loudoun constituency and I hope as many of you will turn out to support her as possible on and before December 12th.

Stef has been a stalwart member and supporter of the party for many years, and does much work behind the scenes as well as centre …

Following the United Kingdom’s decision to break away from the European Union in 2016, an immediate call went out in Scotland for a second referendum on Scottish independence. Statement on Syria

Statement on Syria

In the early hours of Saturday morning  14th April 2018 the combined military might of the US, UK and France launched what amounts to an unprovoked attack on the sovereign nation state of Syria.  The pretext of the attack, to punish Bashar Al Assad and his regime for the alleged use of chemical weapons against his own civilian population.

But surely we can’t …

Joint Statement on Independence

Joint Statement on Independence

On the 13th March 2017 Nicola Sturgeon fired the starting gun on the second Scottish independence referendum and positioned the country for a second debate on Scotland’s constitutional future. We, The Scottish Libertarian Party, believe that this debate has immediately been presented in a manner that does a great disservice to the voters in this country.

That the result of the Brexit vote was the trigger for this subsequent referendum, the SNP has been quite open about. What they have done with calling this vote and …

A Humble Foreign Policy Does Not Mean Military Weakness

A Humble Foreign Policy Does Not Mean Military Weakness

Ministry of Defence has been synonymous with Ministry of War in recent decades, but the reality is that elevating the capacity to wage war abroad does not provide security at home.

It is a military fact that you don’t need parity in weapons with an aggressor to repel an invasion. Just look at the fiscal nightmare our excursions in Iraq and Afghanistan have wrought upon us by far poorer nations with far poorer military capacities than our own.

Security is the ability of a nation to defend …

The Scottish Libertarian Party Condemns Further Military Intervention In The Middle East

Alan Findlay, the leader of the Scottish Libertarian Party, has condemned today’s vote in Westminster to intervene and bomb targets in Syria and surrounding states.

Alan Findlay said, “Our intervention and historical meddling in the affairs of that region has never helped anyone and only leads to more escalation of violence and a worsening of the current refugee and humanitarian crisis.”

Findlay went on to say, “The West has been intervening in this region for millennia and continues to undermine the democratic process for our own …
