Statement on Syria

Statement on Syria

In the early hours of Saturday morning  14th April 2018 the combined military might of the US, UK and France launched what amounts to an unprovoked attack on the sovereign nation state of Syria.  The pretext of the attack, to punish Bashar Al Assad and his regime for the alleged use of chemical weapons against his own civilian population.

Why then do I  say unprovoked? Because Assad posed no threat to the security, interests, overseas dominions, allies or peoples of the three countries involved.

But surely we can’t …

100 Years on: Remembering the Millions who suffered under Socialism

100 Years on: Remembering the Millions who suffered under Socialism

There are two places only where socialism will work: in heaven, where it is not needed, and in hell where they already have it. – Winston Churchill

It is a recurring theme amongst socialists to argue that, if we only adopt the right system, a wonderful utopia awaits us. News…. and an apology

General Election June 8th

General Election June 8th

The UK Prime Minister Theresa May has decided to disrupt our council election campaign by selfishly and inconsiderately calling a snap General Election. (Tsk!)

However, be that as it “May”, if life gives you lemons…squeeze them back in the ****s eyes is what I say.

Accordingly the leadership team will be doing our best to appoint a campaign manager and place some candidates in key positions in Scotland. Given our current financial situation we are looking at three, possibly four, candidates at the most but ideally I’d …

But who will build the roads?

The recent closure of the Forth Road Bridge (FRB) proves a useful catalyst for discussing the role of government in the provision of certain services. “Without government, who will build the roads?” is a commonly asked question by those who are sceptical of the power of the market to provide for them. It is perhaps understandable that this view is taken given the use that we all make of roads every day. After all, perhaps people envisage a system of …
