Happy New Year

Happy New Year

I for one am glad the festive period is over. Office parties starring  teetering hordes of amateur alcoholics, everything going up in price and silly songs featuring diminutive prepubescent percussionists that go “pa rum pa pump um.” (I searched the gospels for this anti social noise nuisance but he seems to be oddly absent from all four.) As you can probably gather. I’m not a fan. Except of course for the capitalistfest that was our own Libertarian Christmas party. Nothing less than a triumph of the will. Thanks to Stef and Stevie. Book early to avoid disappointment for this year’s .

Despite my world famous grumpery, I have every reason to believe that 2018 will be a good year for our party. The sterling work put in by the party faithful last year , and you know who you all are,  is going to stand us in good stead going forward. Slowly but surely the embryo that was the humble beginnings of Scottish Libertarian Party at it’s conception is starting to grow stout and strong arms and legs and evidently a good brain. If we all do our part, which I don’t doubt, it will become something to be very proud of in the coming year. I’m immensely proud of it, and you all already.

On a personal level I will be doing my utmost to get myself out to all our meet up groups throughout Scotland, starting with Aberdeen this coming Sunday 14th January. I’m Looking forward to it. So do Please come along. Hopefully I will be visiting our troops in Kirkcaldy, Kilmarnock, Falkirk, Inverness  and Glasgow in the coming months as well. You lucky people.

Remember to help the party grow we need to fund it. If you are not already a member, give it some thought. Or, if membership is not your bag, think about donating either in money or time. There may be some local council by elections ahead so  keep an eye on this website and support your local candidate in any way you can.

Activists are the key to any party’s success so if you are keeping your skills and talents under a bushel, maybe it’s time to put them to good use. Even if it’s just the unglamorous stuff like leafleting.

If we don’t make our voice heard, the illiberal forces at work in Scotland will forge ahead unimpeded. Don’t think you can rely on any of the mainstream parties to stand in the way. They are part of the same crap game.

Thanks to you all and best wishes to your families in 2018.
